Target Audience:

All Governors of Nursery, Primary, Post-Primary and Special Schools.

Aims:

To review the statutory functions of the Governors and further develop an understanding of how the Board of Governors can contribute to school improvement.

Course Objectives/ Outcomes:

By the end of the session Governors will:

Understand the statutory roles and responsibilities of Governors.

Understand the importance of the self-evaluation process in relation to effective governance.

Have an awareness of the importance of working as a team to promote effective governance.

Presentation and associated resources.

The presentation is divided into three distinct sections to help provide focus to the constituent parts.

This course will be of particular relevance to:

• Governors who have already attended Induction Training.

• Governors who have been in post for at least one year.
