This is a 3 session programme which aims to improve the leadership and management skills of Pre-school leaders and SENCos and to enable them to put processes in place to support children with Special Educational Needs in their settings.

This programme will cover the following themes;

  • Role of SENCO
  • Identification, assessment, processes & tools
  • Education plans
  • Self evaluation & action planning
  • Building an SEN Toolkit

Learning outcomes

  • To have knowledge and understanding of the SEN framework
  • To be aware of resources and key publications relevant to the SEN Framework
  • To outline the role of the SENCo in the setting
  • To develop skills in the identification and assessment of children with SEN
  • To outline the features of Education plans
  • To reflect on principles, processes and tools for self-evaluation and action planning in the pre-school setting
  • To explore self-evaluation and action planning tools for special educational needs

 

Course Details:

Participants should commit to attending all 3 days and should hold a Leadership role in the setting, Leader/ Deputy Leader or SENCo
