Collaborative Learning Online for Shared Education and Reconciliation (CLOSER)

This module is designed to develop the use of ICT to enrich and sustain links between their schools.  Teachers will be shown how to create or use existing online resources in Fronter so that pupils can work together in teams both to study agreed topics in the NI curriculum and to get to know each other.

Aims:

This module is designed for any teacher at KS2 or above who is already in a shared education  partnership and wants to develop the use of ICT to enrich and sustain links between their schools.

The module will show teachers how to create or use existing online resources so that pupils can work together in teams both to study agreed topics in the NI curriculum and to get to know each other.

Reference will also be made to the ways that such work helps schools meet the new statutory requirements at KS2 and 3 for Using Information and Communication Technology (UICT).  The module will also include practical sessions on how to get the best use from video-conferencing.

Teachers will be given time to plan a project together, using a mix of ICT and face to face contact in the first 2 days of the module. This will be followed by implementation over a 6 week period in school and a final day to evaluate its impact. No specialist expertise in ICT is required, just a readiness to learn how to use basic communication tools.
