Getting ready to implement the PLP and moving from 5 stages to 3 stages of the COP Special School

Aims

• To make schools aware of the guidance of the DE Code of Practice (2020) in relation to the Personal Learning Plan (PLP)

• To identify the key steps in the PLP process in creating, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the PLP and provide guidance on effective practice at each stage of this process

• To encourage schools to reflect on their own current practice in relation to IEPs at school- what areas can be improved/developed further in preparation for implementing the PLP effectively?

• To provide guidance for schools on actions that need to be taken following the Spring upgrade on SIMS to update SEN registers in line with the 3 stages of the new Code of Practice with a particular focus on pupils who are currently at Stage 1 and Stage 3 of the 1998 Code of Practice
