Governor Training - Expanding and Embedding Shared Education

Target Audience:

The target audience for this training course will be all Governors of schools that have been involved in a Shared Education partnership for a number of years.

Aims:

This course provides an opportunity for Governors to explore how to embed Shared Education practice and how to maximise the long term impact of the programme for the whole school community. To examine the role of Governors in promoting, encouraging and facilitating shared education.

Course Objectives/ Outcomes:

• To explore the impact shared education in practice.

• And further develop understanding of the legislative and policy context for shared education.

• To explore the impact of shared education in regard to educational, economic and social benefits for schools over time.

• To examine the role of Governors in promoting, encouraging and facilitating shared education.

This course is highly relevant following the publication of ‘Sharing Works’ – a Policy for Shared Education and the passing of the Shared Education Act (May 2016).

Where a school is in a shared education partnership Governors from partnership schools are encouraged to attend together.
