SENCo Collaboration - MOP UP SESSIONS

Aims

The SEND Act (NI) 2016, revised SEN regulations and revised Code of Practice are the key building blocks in delivering a new SEN Framework. The briefing aims to update Principals and SENCOs to the various elements of the new framework being introduced between 2016 and 2018/19

Objectives for Principals and SENCOs

• to raise awareness of the new legislation in regard to pupils with SEND
• to highlight new responsibilities for schools in regard to their statutory duty for pupils with SEND and
• to update Principals and SENCOs on the revised timeframe in regard to the implementation of the new SEND framework

Tea and Coffee will be served at 10.30 am -11.00 am after which the Principals are free to leave and SENCos are invited to remain until 3.30 pm in order:

Objectives for SENCos

• To facilitate collaboration with other SENCo’s to identify and build on existing good practice and
• To identify what training and support is required in the future to fulfil their role within the new SEND framework.
