Autism Lego Based Club: Building social skills one brick at a time

Aims:

This course aims to:

• Support school staff in setting up a LEGO based club within their school environment
• Develop social competence of autistic pupils through play-based engagement
• Support development of social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, collaboration, conflict resolution, negotiation, verbal and non-verbal communication
• Provide a social opportunity for autistic pupils during unstructured times, such as break-time and lunch-time etc.
• Highlight to the autistic pupil that socialising with a common purpose can be fun!

Audience :

Post-Primary & Primary Teachers, Classroom Assistants and SENCos
