This 60/90-minute webinar, delivered by the EA Community and Schools Team, is designed to support School Governors in understanding the opportunities, responsibilities, and benefits associated with Community Use of Schools.

Participants will receive guidance on their role in overseeing community use arrangements, strengthening partnerships with local organisations, and maximising the social and educational benefits of school facilities beyond the school day.

Course Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of the policy and strategic context in Northern Ireland,
  • Explore how school facilities can be used to support community engagement and lifelong learning,
  • Outline the governance, safeguarding, insurance, and risk management considerations that Boards of Governors should be aware of.
  • Reference examples of effective practice and provide opportunities for questions and discussion
