TPL Conferences 2019/2020

Dear Principal

The Education Authority’s ‘Teacher Professional Learning Team’ (TPL) will host a TPL ‘Sharing of Practice’ Conference for all Primary and Post Primary Schools in each locality Area. The conference will commence at 9.15  and conclude with lunch provided at 1.00 pm - please advise of any special dietary requirements.

You, as Principal and your Senior Leader with responsibility for Teacher Professional Learning are invited to attend and engage in this participative model of delivery for TPL.

Through this conference the EA TPL Team would like to engage with you in the development of participative, capacity-enhancing, learning models. In recent years there has been a shift in the understanding of what constitutes effective professional learning for teachers, where it should take place, what it should involve and how to provide it. In this conference we hope to exemplify alternative approaches to TPL and provide opportunities for you to consider how your own school’s approaches may be developed further.

The learning and development opportunities on the day will centre on case studies of innovative practice in Teacher Professional Learning – both primary and post primary. The presenters have been tasked with presenting on their school’s learning journey over the last two years, focusing on impact and professional learning.

During the conference you will be invited to attend a case study workshop. The presenter will provide a brief outline of their TPL journey and you will be given the time to ask questions and share ideas with your colleagues. Post conference we would like you to consider the ideas presented on the day and other relevant research with a view to reviewing and developing your approaches to TPL for the next academic year.
