Principal Briefing Event in Contemplation of Statutory Effect of the SEND Act (NI) 2016

Aims and Objectives for the morning are:

• To update Principals on the progress of the SEND Act (NI) 2016
• To identify the roles and responsibilities of the Learning Support Coordinator, Principal and Board of Governors within the new SEN framework. 

The SEND Act 2016 requires a Board of Governors of a school to designate a teacher on the staff as having responsibility for co-ordinating the provision of education for those pupils attending the school who have SEN. The Learning Support Coordinator role is explicity referred to in the Act as a key role with a legislative base.

NOTE: Substitute cover is provided for this event (there is no code for NISTR – this will be paid directly into your School's budget) to enable attendance in the morning and to complete work back in school in the afternoon.
