Target Audience:

New Governors and those returning to Boards of Governors after a break in governor service.

Aims:

This course is an important introduction to the role of a Governor. It outlines essential information on the structure, role and responsibilities of Governors and how Boards of Governors function as a governing body.

Course Objectives/ Outcomes:

  • To have an appreciation of the educational context in Northern Ireland.

  • To understand the roles and responsibilities of Governors.

  • To understand how an effective Board of Governors operates.
