About this training/event

Aims and Objectives

To have a wider understanding of some of the challenges inherent in Numeracy and how working with a multi-sensory approach such as Numicon can help children with SEN meet these challenges.
To appreciate the essential building blocks that underpin key mathematical concepts.
To consider how to start working with a multi-sensory approach such as Numicon with children with Down Syndrome.
To use the Numicon shapes and other practical resources successfully in the classroom.
To explore the benefits of using Numicon with children with Down Syndrome to teach key mathematical areas including rote counting, one to one correspondence, simple addition/subtraction, decomposition, multiplication, division and introducing money.
