Effective Inclusion of pupils with Down Syndrome or Severe Learning Difficulties in Early Years settings

Aims and Objectives

• To provide an overview of the learning profile of children with Down Syndrome in early years settings.

• To provide strategies to manage behaviour.

• To have a wider understanding of some of the challenges working with children with sensory integration and processing difficulties.

• To provide a Makaton taster session and consider how to start using Makaton to aid early communication skills.

• To begin to introduce early Literacy/language strategies in your setting.
