AIMS:

• To outline the research on cursive handwriting and its benefits.
• To increase the understanding of the difficulties children can have that impact handwriting development.
• To provide advice to assist teachers in identifying these difficulties in the classroom.
• To offer practical strategies to support the introduction of a cursive script in the Foundation Stage.
