Health and Safety Awareness for Heads of Science or their Deputies

Course Tutor:  Dawn Moorhead

This one day course, to be held at a choice of five locations across NI this academic year, is intended for Heads of Science, their deputies, heads of physics, chemistry and biology or those aspiring to such posts.

The aims for the day are to asssit participants to:

• Work safely
• Understand their responsibilities under the Regulations
• Have a raised awareness of current and significant safety issues
• Consider safety implications for the management of science departments
• Consider risk assessments as required by the Management regulations, COSHH regulations & others
• Consider how to deal with emergency situations
• Devise an action plan.

The course is open to one applicant from each school and places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served' basis.  A waiting list will be held.

We would ask that each school sends a representative so that schools will have the opportunity to update and review this important area, also that any participant has not attended a similar course since 2014.

• This one day course at your chosen venue will commence at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm.
• Only one attendee from each school please
• Please give your own C2K email address, not Yahoo/Hotmail and ensure it is correct as the system will not pick up any errors!
• Mid-morning tea/coffee and a sandwich lunch will be provided
• No sub cover, travel expenses or cost to attend
• We reserve the right to cancel any course if less than the 10 people minimum apply.
