Aims: 

A session tailored to give an overview of factors which impact behaviour in children and young people with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and appropriate strategies to support them.

Course Content:

This session has been specifically developed to support the following;

  • To gain an understanding of how our behaviour and relationships impact the behaviour of our pupils with SLD
  • To gain an overview of factors which impact behaviour, and the function of challenging behaviour in children and young people with SLD
  • To gain an understanding of how to analyse and address behaviour using ABC (Antecedent, Behaviour, Consequence)
  • To gain knowledge of preventative strategies to implement within a school setting to promote positive behaviour for pupils

Course Duration:

  • A 40 Minute Session

  • All staff supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties
