Professional Development Opportunities 2025-26 -> Emotional Health and Wellbeing

The Department of Education and Department of Health jointly published the Children & Young People’s Emotional Health and Wellbeing in Education Framework
on 26 February 2021.

The main emphasis of the Framework is to support educational settings to promote emotional health and wellbeing at a universal level, through a holistic, multi-disciplinary approach, building resilience to enable our children and young people to cope with challenges they may face in life and providing early and enhanced support for those who may be at risk or showing signs of needing further help.

The Children & Young People’s Emotional Health and Wellbeing in Education Framework can be accessed here.

Professional development opportunities are available to school learners to support a whole school approach to emotional health and well-being, including how individuals feel about themselves, their relationships and their ability to cope with challenges.  Professional development opportunities are also available on specific areas such as Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA), providing practical ideas and strategies to support young people experiencing EBSNA.

Development opportunities are available around staff wellbeing, exploring key themes such as school culture, staff stress and burnout, wellbeing leadership, and peer supervision. Participants will gain knowledge, tools, and confidence to support their colleagues and lead on wellbeing initiatives within their settings.
