Special Educational Needs Early Years Inclusion Service (SENEYIS)

Leadership and Management of SEND and Inclusion in the Pre-school setting- A 3 day programme for Non Statutory Pre-school leaders

This is a 3 session programme which aims to improve the skills of Pre-school leaders and SENCos in non statutory settings to manage SEND and Inclusion and enable them to put processes in place to support children with special educational needs in their setting.

Participants should commit to attending all 3 sessions and should hold a leadership role in the setting, i.e Leader/ Deputy Leader or SENCo

AIMS:

The programme will cover the following themes: The role of the SENCo - Identification and assessment of SEND, processes and tools Writing Education Plans - Self evaluation and action planning for SEND Building an SEN toolkit

Learning Outcomes:

To have knowledge and understanding of the SEND framework/ Code of Practice To be aware of resources and key publications relevant to the SEND framework To outline the role and responsibilities of the SENCo in the setting To develop skills in the identification and assessment of children with SEND To outline the features of Education plans to reflect on the principles, processes and tools for self evaluation and action planning in the pre-school setting To explore self-evaluation and planning tools for SEND

Promoting an inclusive environment in the Early Years Setting - a 2 part programme

This course is a 2 session training and participants should commit to attending both sessions

Aims & Objectives

To understand what is meant by the term Inclusive Environment and why it helps reduce barriers to learning To introduce the Inclusive environmnet checklist To consider an Inclusive enviroment in the context of' - Classroom layout and organisation - Routines and transitions -The sensory environment To consider the social and emotional environment To consider an environment to promote positive behaviour

Parents Training - Helping Your Child Understand and Manage Their Emotions

AIMS:

To explore ways to help your child understand and express their emotions. To explore ways to promote emotional wellbeing at home To explore ways to help your child calm down

Awareness and Management of toileting needs for children with SEN

AIMS:

To provide an awareness of the typical development of bladder and bowel control and the implications for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) To develop an understanding of toileting readiness and to consider strategies for advance preparation to support children with SEN To explore practical strategies for the management of toileting needs for children with SEN

Supporting Transition - Early Years Professionals Training

This course is cross service training provided by Pupil Support Service, SENEYIS and Primary Behaviour Support and Provisions.

AIMS:

Identify key partners in transition Outline the core aspects of support for effective transition Use child centred planning to develop bespoke transition plans To reflect on issues and challenges around the transition of children with SEN and how it affects children, their families and educational professionals
