Creativity in Practice: Digital Pedagogy for ECTs

This professional learning opportunity is delivered by the Creative Learning Centres (CLCs) - AmmA Creative Learning (EA), Nerve Belfast and Nerve Centre Derry/Londonderry - in partnership with NI Screen and facilitated through the EA Teacher Professional Learning Service, builds on over two decades of experience helping teachers embed creativity and digital innovation in Northern Ireland classrooms.

Aimed at Early Career Teachers, the programme explores creative and digital pedagogy as an integrated mindset - one that values curiosity, reflection and purposeful innovation. It focuses on developing classroom cultures where learners take ownership, think divergently, and engage meaningfully through technology. 

Objectives:

• Promote creativity and digital pedagogy as an integrated mindset for effective teaching and professional growth.
• Enhance literacy through cross-curricular creative processes that blend digital tools and creative thinking.
• Encourage reflective practice, risk-taking and innovation within everyday teaching.
• Foster collaboration and shared professional learning through the CLC and EA TPL networks.
• Develop confidence in using digital technologies to enhance creativity, communication and pupil engagement.
• Reflect on authentic, in-school examples of digital learning and creativity to identify the hallmarks of successful, sustainable practice.

Format:

The programme will run as 2 full-day experiences hosted at each CLC, with one online catchup (attendance at all 3 sessions is a pre-requisite).

Each site will deliver the same structured programme to ensure consistency and quality across regions.  Book one of two locations: AmmA Centre (Armagh) or Nerve Belfast (W5).

Day 1:  Thursday 15th January 2026 (9.30 a.m. - 3.30 p.m.)

Day 2:  Thursday 5th February 2026 (1.50 - 3.00 p.m.) - ONLINE SESSION (link will be emailed prior to session)

Day 3:  Thursday 12th March 2026 (9.30 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.)

Substitute cover (1 day) will be provided to your school to facilitate your attendance. Monies in relation to sub cover will be issued to schools after teacher has attended all 3 dates. Schools are advised to code to Miscellaneous School Charge/Cost on NISTR.
