CLEAPSS H&S for Science Technicians Follow-on Course

Target Audience:  Science Technicians in NI who have already completed the free online Part 1.  Please do not apply if you have already completed this follow-on course privately as places are limited.

The objectives for this course are:

  • To address any issues arising from CLEAPSS self-study H&S course.
  • To further explore H&S issues specifically relevant to Technicians and their jobs.
  • To share & problem solve any H&S concerns you may have.

Presenters:  Magda Polec (CLEAPSS Chemistry Adviser) and Gráinne McAdam (CLEAPSS Badged Trainer) will lead this professional learning event.  Jane Major (Section Lead, CLEAPSS Technical Services) will present with Magda on the 4th June. 

 

Dates:         Four dates to choose from in May/June 2024, restricted to 20 places per day, you only have to attend on one day.  First two already full!

Location:    Live online through Zoom

Times:        9:30 am to 12:30pm with a 10 min screen break half way though the session.  Please note that the Zoom meeting room will open at 9.15am for registration, session starting promptly at 9.30am. 

 

Please have the approval of your HoD to attend.

  • This training is open to all post primary school management types across NI.

In compliance with Regulation 13(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000, the EA School Development Service will be offering this health and safety training, provided by CLEAPSS, for Science Technicians in Northern Ireland.  Attendance at this course is a crucial factor in the mitigation of risk in school science and to reduce the likelihood of HSENI prosecutions against the EA, or your school, and any resultant civil actions arising out of accidents. 

This three-hour live online course is an extension to the self-study Health & Safety for Science Technicians course and will give participants the opportunity to raise any questions arising from the self-study course and to explore health and safety issues relevant to Technicians and their jobs in more detail.

There will be opportunities for participants to share good practice, raise their own concerns and work with the tutors to identify possible solutions. To aid discussion participant numbers are limited to a maximum of 20 per session.

CLEAPSS will provide a certificate of attendance for this course.

If you have already completed Part 1 you do not have to repeat it.
