Opportunities to explore strategies and resources to support resilience in the child with Type 1 Diabetes within school.

Opportunities to identify and disseminate best practice in meeting the needs of pupils with Type 1 Diabetes within school.

Aims

To highlight some of the benefits of inclusion for young people with Down syndrome in post primary mainstream settings.

To provide an overview of supporting inclusion for young people with down syndrome in post primary mainstream settings.

To highlight some of the characteristic difficulties young people with down syndrome have in relation to learning.

To provide practical classroom strategies that can be implemented in order to overcome barriers to learning for young people with Down syndrome.

Autism Advisory and Intervention Service, Primary Behaviour Support, SENIS DS, SENIS MLD, SENEYIS, and Sensory Service

 AIMS:

Identify key partners in transition. Outline the core aspects of support for effective transition. Use child centred planning to develop bespoke transition plans. To reflect on issues and challenges around the transition of children with SEN and how it affects children, their families and educational professionals.

Facilitating Inclusion for Pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties in Key Stage 1

Aims:

Provide an overview of the profile of a child with Moderate Learning Difficulties in KS1; Discuss the importance of skills such as; Memory and Attention and Listening in KS1; Discuss Literacy and Numeracy barriers to a pupil with Moderate Learning Difficulties in KS 1; Discuss social interaction and best practice in supporting pupils with these skills; Support participants with target-setting for KS1 pupils in Literacy and Numeracy; Evaluate the use of Assessments for pupils in KS1.

Course Details

The training is approximately a 30 minute training persentation which participants can view in their own time.
