Understand the process of developing a supported Calm Plan based on nurture principles and trauma informed practice Use the Calm Plan framework: to help recognise dysregulation in yourself and your pupils to help understand what pupils are communicating through their behaviour Develop an understanding of how to help pupils feel safe and connected

RISE NI is a regional early intervention service, which supports children in pre-school educational and primary school settings.  Members of the RISE NI will deliver a session on Monday the 15th of November on fine motor skills development in pre-school children.

To explore the value of Outdoor Play To explore playing with the elements (earth, fire, water, weather, senses, etc) To explore playing in all weathers To consider playing with loose parts in the early years.

Introductory Session for New Settings

An online session for settings NEW to the Getting Ready to Learn Programme in 2022-23.  This session will focus on providing information on delivering Getting Ready to Learn themes, particularly Big Bedtime Read, advice around monitoring requirements and an overview of the GRtL Website.

It is advised that all new settings attend one Introductory Session.  If you are not able to attend please contact the Getting Ready to Learn team on grtl@eani.org.uk

Session 2   1 December at 12:30 pm

New Settings Session - Engaging Parents

This training is targetted at settings new to Getting Ready to Learn programme in 2022-23. 

This session will be jointly run by GRtL and the EA Parent Support Co-ordinator and will look at engaging parents during their child's pre-school year.

We are offering two dates and times  but please note that session 2 is a repeat of the first session

Session 1:  7 December at 2:00 pm

Session 2:  8 December at 12:30 pm

Play in times of Hardship

This session is only available to those settings who are participating in Getting Ready to Learn 2022-23.

The cost of living crisis and rising poverty levels are a real societal concern with the impact being felt on many families attending our nursery and pre-schools.

This session will explore how we can collectively provide low cost play opportunities for children in homes and settings.

The session will be facilitated by PLAYBOARD NI

This session is scheduled to take place on Thursday the 12th of January from 2:00 to 3:30 pm

 

Supporting Children's Mental Health through Trauma Informed Practice

This session is only available to those settings who are participating in the Getting Ready to Learn 2022-23.

A fun and interactive session that supports you to promote children's positive mental health and well-being.  the session will take a playful approach when exploring mental health.  We use play as a tool to improve not only children's mental health and well-being, but yours too!

The session will be delivered by PLAYBOARD NI

The session is scheduled for Thursday 19th January 2023 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

The session will be delivered via Microsoft Teams.  

Forest School Spring Session

This session is only available to settings participating in Getting Ready to Learn 2022-23.

This is the first in a series of seasonal sessions to be delivered by Forest Schools NI.  As the weather gets warmer it is the perfect opportunity to get little ones out into natural spaces.  This session will focus on providing lots of practical activities to ensure the children get lots of regular opportunities to connect with natuure

The session will be facilitated by Forest Schools NI

We are offering the Spring Session at the following times, including one evening session:-

Tuesday the 25th of April at 7:00 pm

Wednesday the 26th of April at 2:00 pm

 

Eco Play and the Elements

This session is only available to settings participating in Getting Ready to Learn 2022-23.

We all have a part to play in looking after our planet and making changes for the better.  Explore how you can play your part and how to incorporate the elements - earth, air, fire and water into your everyday play within your setting.

This session will be faciliated by PLAYBOARD NI.

The session is scheduled for Thursday the 2nd of February from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  

 

Early Mathematical Experiences for the Pre-school Child - Counting

This session is only available to settings participating in the Getting Ready to Learn Programme 2022-23.

This is the first of 4 sessions which will examine Early Mathematical Experiences for the Pre-school Child.  

During the first session participants will have the opportunity to explore:-

the development of early number 5 principles of counting the development of early mathematical language.

The session will be facilitated by Tina Adair, Education Consultant and will be held on Wednesday the 11th of January at 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

exploring the mathematical learning potential of sorting; exploring the significance of  'same' and 'different' in early mathematics; the development of early mathematical language.

The session will be facilitated by Tina Adair, Education Consultant and will be held on Wednesday the 18th of January at 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

This session is only available to settings participating in Getting Ready to Learn 2022-23

This is the 3rd of 4 sessions which will examine Early Mathematical Experiences for the Pre-school Child.

early mathematical ideas with shape and space; early mathematical skills required for measuring; the development of early mathematical experiences

The session will be facilitated by Tina Adair, Education Consultant and will be held on Wednesday the 25th of January from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

This is the 4th and final session in the series of transforming practice sessions on Early Mathematical Experiences for the Pre-school Child.  

During this session participants will have the opportunity to explore the provision of  'Shape, Space and Measure' experiences through the outoors.  There will be a focus on:-

shape and space experiences in the outdoors; measuring experiences in the outdoors; the development of early mathematical experiences.

The session will be facilitated by Tina Adair, Education Consultant and will be held on Wednesday the 1st of February from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

 

Forest School NI Spring Session

Course Details

This is the first of a series of sessions to be facilitated by Forest Schools in NI.  

This session will:-

Provide an introduction to Forest School and the Getting Ready to Learn programme Focus on Spring and how we can provide immersive and exploratory outdoor activities to support young learners.

Course Times:

This training is only available to settings delivering Getting Ready to Learn

This sesion will be delivered by EA's Behaviour Support and Provisions Team.​​​

The session will examine how we can develop and enhance our engagement with parents in our early year's settings
