SESS is responsible for working with schools and other stakeholders to promote, facilitate and encourage partnership through Shared Education. The SESS team currently support work in the following Shared Education areas: Mainstreaming Shared Education, the ASPIRE PeacePlus Project, Strule Shared Education Campus (Omagh), Shared Campus Programmes (Limavady, Ballycastle, & Brookeborough) and the implementation of the Community Relations, Equality and Diversity (CRED) Policy,
The SESS Team also provide support to the Integrated Education Sector in line with the statutory duty to encourage, facilitate and support Integrated Education. This involves working in collaboration with educational partners including the Council for Integrated Education, supporting schools in their transformation to Integrated Status and advancing Integrated Education.
The SESS Team works in partnership with the Department of Education (DE) and Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta to help advance Irish-Medium Education (IME) in line with the statutory requirements placed upon the DE to encourage and facilitate IME. This involves dedicated support for Immersive Pedagogy through specialist School Improvement Professionals and the design of bespoke professional learning programmes for Irish-Medium Educators.
To support Shared Education Co-ordinators in planning, facilitating and evaluating high-quality Shared Education Programmes across Partnerships.
To build capacity of middle leaders, within Integrated Schools, to deliver high-quality Integrated Provison within their setting.
