In compliance with Regulation 13(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000, the EA School Development Service is now offering this online health and safety training, provided by CLEAPSS, for all Radiation Protection Supervisors in Northern Ireland Schools.
We recommend participation in this course as a positive action towards managing risk in school science. It should help to reduce the risk of accidents, supports the risk management strategy of your Department and would be viewed as such by HSENI, should a subsequent accident occur.
About the Course
This three-hour online course covers radiation protection in a school setting for the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS - Schools). The person with this role is responsible for managing the safe storage, use and monitoring of radioactive sources in the science department. The course is based on the advice in CLEAPSS guide L093 Managing Ionising Radiations and Radioactive Substances in schools and colleges and will address questions frequently asked on the CLEAPSS Helpline. Participant numbers are limited to a maximum of 20 in each session so there will be opportunities to ask specific questions of the trainer. Duration: Half day.
