The Introduction to Induction Core Day provides Early Career Teachers with an initial grounding in the Induction process, including the Induction Action Planning approach that supports the beginning of professional learning during the first year of teaching. The day emphasises the GTCNI Values and Competences as the foundation for professional identity, reflective practice and ongoing development. The day signposts ECTs to key resources and support systems available to them during their induction year. The event also fosters a collaborative learning environment that strengthens professional understanding and builds confidence to begin the induction action‑planning process.
By the end of this session, Early Career Teachers will be able to:
develop understanding of the Induction process and the Induction Action Planning approach;
recognise the role of the GTCNI Values and Competences in shaping professional identity and reflective practice;
become familiar with key resources and support systems available during the Induction year; and
build confidence to begin the induction action‑planning process within a supportive, collaborative environment.
