Course Content:

This session has been specifically developed to support the following -

Cover a range of strategies to support children with language and communication difficulties, Explain what speech and language difficulties are, and how they may present in children with SLD, Provide setting staff with possible strategies and interventions which can help to support attention and listening. An overview of the Effective Inclusion of Pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties in Mainstream

Aims: 

A session tailored to your individual setting needs with a focus on highlighting how to gain an understanding of the profile of children and young people with severe learning difficulties, and strategies to support effective inclusion in mainstream settings.

Course Content:

This session has been specifically developed to support the following;

How we define severe learning difficulties and how it affects children and young people The importance of inclusion and the impact that effective inclusion has on the school, with reference to relevant legislation To give an overview of the barriers children with severe learning difficulties face, and strategies to overcome these across different curriculum areas Course Duration: A 40 Minute training video which particpants can view in their own time. A session tailored to give an overview of factors which impact behaviour in children and young people with severe learning difficulties (SLD) and appropriate strategies to support them.

Course Content:

This session has been specifically developed to support the following;

To gain an understanding of how our behaviour and relationships impact the behaviour of our pupils with SLD To gain an overview of factors which impact behaviour, and the function of challenging behaviour in children and young people with SLD To gain an understanding of how to analyse and address behaviour using ABC (Antecedent, Behaviour, Consequence) To gain knowledge of preventative strategies to implement within a school setting to promote positive behaviour for pupils Course Duration: A 40 Minute Session Target Audience All staff supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties Location: Delivered by SENIS SLD Service

Supporting Transition - Early Years Professionals Training

This course is cross service training provided by Pupil Support Service, SENEYIS and Primary Behaviour Support and Provisions.

AIMS:

Identify key partners in transition Outline the core aspects of support for effective transition Use child centred planning to develop bespoke transition plans To reflect on issues and challenges around the transition of children with SEN and how it affects children, their families and educational professionals
