Planning to Support SBEW Needs: Risk Assessment & Risk Reduction Action Planning

Aims 1.

1. To develop school staff understanding and confidence in assessing risk effectively, enabling the identification of factors that may impact the safety, wellbeing, learning, and participation of children and young people.

2. To equip school leaders and staff with the knowledge and skills required to develop, implement, monitor, and review risk reduction action plans that promote positive outcomes and support safe, inclusive educational environments.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Apply a risk assessment framework to identify, evaluate, and prioritise risks associated with behavioural, emotional, and wellbeing concerns.

2. Design and implement effective risk reduction action plans that minimise identified risks, enhance protective factors, and support positive outcomes for pupils and staff.
