Aims:

Through participation you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the legislation and guidance relating to SBEW.
  • Examine the value of an inclusive school ethos.
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of the voice of the young person in supporting pupils with SEN and critically reflect on how this is used within your school setting.
  • Gain an understanding of Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice.
  • Reflect upon the role of the Key Adult and the importance of developing trusting relationships.
  • Evaluate the basic approaches to creating a safe, supportive learning environment for young people with SBEW needs.
  • Gain an understanding of appropriate de-escalation strategies.
